La Liste, a renowned publication when it comes to judging the best restaurants in the world, has just placed this San Diego gem on its latest “Top 1000 Restaurants”. As SoCal’s only spot with 3 Michelin stars, it landed in the global top 150. Its score of 95.5 makes it a definitive top 10 contender in the US.
What is La Liste and why is it important?
La Liste is essentially the guide of guides. It’s a French-based ranking system that acts as an aggregator, meaning it does not send its own inspectors to restaurants. Instead, it uses a computer algorithm to compile reviews from everyone else – unlike the Michelin Guide or World’s Top 50. Essentially, by using math, La Liste eliminates human bias. That’s why it’s one of the most trusted tops in the world. Here’s how it works:
-
Sources: It pulls ratings from prestigious guidebooks (Michelin, Gault & Millau, AAA), major newspapers (The New York Times, Washington Post), and trusted online review sites (Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc.).
-
Weighting: Not all sources count equally. They poll thousands of chefs to determine which guides are the most trustworthy. For example, a 3-star Michelin rating will boost a score much more than a 5-star Yelp review.
-
The Result: The final score represents the global consensus on that restaurant.
Addison in La Liste’s top

Unlike other lists, ties are very common on La Liste due to its unique rating.
In this year’s edition, the first spot is shared by 10 restaurants, including Le Bernardin (NYC), SingleThread (California), and Guy Savoy (Paris).
With a score of 95.50, Addison sits comfortably in the “top 150” globally. It’s tied with other world-famous venues like Benu (San Francisco) and Smyth (Chicago).
Addison, a SoCal legend

3 Michelin stars are no joke – and pretty much impossible to earn. But not for Chef William Bradley, who offers an experience that celebrates regional ingredients and Southern California influences. Their 10-course menu changes with the seasons, and it comes at $385 per person. Sure – it’s not an every day ‘treat yourself’ kinda deal. Yet perfect for that very special occasion. Don’t forget to check their extensive wine list, showcasing top California vintages and newly discovered selections from around the world.
Addison has been calling San Diego home since 2006, and captured Michelin’s attention with their sesame-seasoned Koshihikari rice finished with applewood-smoked sabayon and crowned with Regiis Ova reserve caviar.
