Chipotle lovers, tattoo lovers, and those who love both – we have the best news ever! In honor of Friday the 13th – a beloved holiday in tattoo culture- Chipotle is launching its first-ever collection of temporary “flash” tattoo designs. Why? Viral memes and reels recently took over social media, and a new concept was born: being “tatted like a Chipotle bag”. Thankfully, the chain chose to embrace the trend and now they’re sharing the love…and the ink.
You can get a temporary flash tattoo at only one of 13 select locations – including one in San Diego! To get yours, head to 8657 Villa La Jolla Dr Ste 209 in La Jolla, this Friday, between 3 -4 PM. With every order, you’ll get a limited-edition iconic Chipotle-inspired art. It’s only available while supplies last, so run, don’t walk!
Already have a Chipotle tattoo…kind of?
And that’s not all! Chipotle enthusiasts who show off their “Chipotle bag-style” tattoos – whether real, temporary, or even hand-drawn – get a BOGO entrée deal (buy-one-get-one-free entrée) during that same hour. Just prove you’re already tatted up (sort of).
Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th has long been considered an unlucky day. Therefore, the tattoo community – known for embracing counterculture – turned that superstition on its head. Getting a tattoo on Friday the 13th became a way to mock the superstition, and celebrate boldness. Later on, the tradition was made popular by Oliver Pack, the well-known artist and former judge of Ink Master. He started offering $13 tattoos on Friday the 13th at his shop in Dallas. You’d pick a design for a flash sheet, pay $13, and voila…you’re inked. The tradition brought community together, transformed shops into a cool neighborhood party, and made this form of art accessible to all.
Chipotle fun facts
There’s no point in describing Chipotle to its devoted fans, so we’re just gonna mention some fun facts instead. Did you know…
- that McDonald’s helped it grow? In the late ’90s, McDonald’s invested in Chipotle when it had just 16 locations. By the time McDonald’s divested in 2006, Chipotle had grown to over 500 restaurants.
- that Chipotle uses on average over 100,000 avocados a day?
- they were early to the “food with integrity” movement? Chipotle was one of the first major chains to highlight ethical sourcing, like using antibiotic-free meats, organic beans, and pasture-raised dairy.
Alright, enough reading! Head to Chipotle for your favorite, free flash tattoo.
