‘Tis the season! We can’t get enough of Christmas shopping, holiday treats, pop-up bars and all the tasty snacks. European Christmas markets are known for their charm and vibes, and while we can’t get the whole deal here, there is a spot that takes us pretty close! Here’s our favorite Christmas market in San Diego.
Holiday Market at Gallagher Square
In the heart of Petco Park, you can find a winter wonderland these following weeks. This charming holiday market returns for its fourth edition, in the newly renovated Gallagher Square.
You can expect magical Christmas lights, and visits from Santa and his reindeers. Little ones can enjoy fun rides on carousels, or their can hop on a Christmas train!
There’s nightly snowfall to complete the atmosphere, and mulled wine to warm you up at night (maybe we can imagine that it’s even colder than the usual SD weather). If you’re looking for a Christmassy treat, find a cute and delicious shortbread. Hang around and dazzle at the massive 40-foot Christmas tree, and enjoy the live entertainment – available on select dates. Not done with the holiday shopping? This is also a good spot to stock up from local artisan shops.
You’ll find all these shops inside beautiful wooden houses, that only add to the charm.
Tickets for this Christmas Market in San Diego
Exploring this winter wonderland will cost $37 for adults, and $28 for kids. For the little ones, the ticket includes the opportunity to share their wish list with Santa. When buying your ticket (link here), you’ll have to choose a time frame to enter, to make sure the magic isn’t ruined by overwhelming crowds. Once inside, you can stay and soak in the cheery vibes for as long as you’d like.
Happy holidays, everyone! We hope you love this European-style Christmas Market in San Diego as much as we do.
