Who doesn’t love a perfect Sunday out in the sunshine, especially when it involves great music, good vibes, and absolutely zero cost? Add ‘by the water’, and it’s a very typical San Diego activity – only free, so even better. The Rady Shell is bringing the neighborhood together for Picnic at the Park.
Picnic at the Park at the Rady Shell – a free community event
Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 1, because this is exactly the kind of low-pressure, high-fun event our community thrives on. Get an exclusive look at the concert lineup for the 2026 Conrad Prebys Summer Season, with subscription packages on sale the same day.
Gather with friends, family, and neighbors to celebrate the start of something new. Gates open at 10:30 AM, so you can claim a patch of grass, spread out your favorite blanket, and settle in before the festivities kick off at 11:30 AM.
As expected from a community event, the entertainment is a total love letter to local talent. You’ll get to hear from our very own San Diego Symphony musicians and singer-songwriter Gregory Page. And for those who can’t sit still, there’s an interactive Thriller dance tutorial that will make sure you leave with a new party trick. Finally, a DJ set by XELESTIAL will keep the energy up.
Make it the perfect day out

This is kind of a “choose your own adventure” style picnic. You are totally encouraged to pack your own basket full of snacks and drinks, making it a super budget-friendly day out. If you don’t feel like packing, or want to enjoy some locals bites, don’t worry – The Shell’s food partners will be there serving up treats.
Keep in mind that it’s a first-come, first-served situation, so come early to snag a spot. Enjoy the fresh air, get ready for a wonderful spring, and just enjoy being part of this amazing city. See you at The Shell!
