Ice skating season is here, San Diegans!
As the holiday season approaches, our favorite festive activities are opening back up for us to enjoy! One of the most quintessential winter activities is easily ice skating. Even though we live in the (mostly) permanently sunny San Diego, we can still spend time in a winter wonderland thanks to these fantastic ice rinks. We’ve compiled a list of these 7 ice skating rinks around San Diego!
1.The Viejas Outlet Center Ice Rink
The Viejas Outlet Center Ice Rink opens its doors on November 12! The resort and casino are actually home to Southern California’s largest outdoor ice skating rink. You’ll find Viejas Outlet Center completely decked out for the holidays with festive lights, entertainment, and a seasonal water show. The season pass costs $99, a ticket for adults and teens costs $20, and a kids ticket is $18.

2.Skating By The Sea
Skating by the Sea is easily one of the most picturesque ice rinks in the whole country! The legendary Hotel del Coronado is home to this beachfront ice rink with breathtaking views of the Pacific. Their season lasts from November 22 to January 2, 2022. General admission costs $35, and Military tickets are $30 on Monday and Wednesday. First Responder tickets cost $30 on Tuesdays.

3.Rady Children’s Ice Rink
Starting on November 17, Rady Children’s Ice Rink is back with another holiday season filled with outdoor ice skating! Their season lasts until January 6, during which you’ll be helping raise money for Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital! The tickets cost $15 per adult and $13 per child. If you work for Rady Children’s or are in the Military, each ticket costs $10.

4.UTC Ice Arena
This rink is actually open year-round, but it is a definite must-visit during the holiday season. This staple ice rink is in the UTC Westfield Mall, and it has a unique glass-enclosed Dining Terrace. There you can stay warm and cozy while enjoying delicious food before or after skating. If you’re a beginner, they have a free intro ice skating lesson held every Saturday morning. They also have year-round lessons and clinics for anyone interested in trying hockey! General admission is $15 for adults and $12 for children under 5. Skates rentals are available for $5. For those looking for a fun Christmas Day activity, the rink is open for you to enjoy!

5.The Inn AT Rancho Santa Fe
The Inn At Rancho Santa Fe is a beautiful spot to enjoy good old-fashioned holiday fun! The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe opens its outdoor ice rink on November 30! From then until January 1, this becomes a winter wonderland with plenty of cozy activities, like roasting s’mores, meet and greets with Santa, and a lighting ceremony for the 20-foot Christmas Tree! Tickets cost $18 for adults, $15 for children under 11, and $10 for groups of 10 or more.

6.The Rinks Poway Ice
Public skating is back at Rinks Poway Ice! Online registration for public skating is now open! General Admission costs $12, and Skate Rental is $4. This rink is 25 minutes away from downtown San Diego, but it’s a nice change of pace and an excellent opportunity to explore new ice skating spots! They also have lessons for everyone, whatever level of skill, so if you’ve been thinking about taking classes, this might be the place for you.

7.The San Diego Ice Arena (SDIA)
SDIA is currently open for public sessions! General admission costs $15, and the group rate is $13. All Admissions include FREE skate rentals, so that’s one less thing to think about before hitting the ice! To get the group discount, your group must have 10 or more skaters.
