Just in time for the holidays, Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is launching Le Petit Chef & Friends! This is a world-famous 3D dining event that mixes gourmet food with some serious movie magic. Created by Belgian artists, this experience features tiny animated chefs that actually “come to life” right on your table.
The Le Petit Chef & friends experience

As you eat, you’re guided through a fun story where every scene matches a specific course. It’s the only place in San Diego to catch this show, making it a perfect spot for families, date nights, or friends outing. It also makes for that special holiday activity.
Careful – seating is limited! To grab a table, just email lepetitchef@hiltongaslamp.com. They ask that all members of your party are present at least 30 minutes prior to your booking, to make sure everyone gets the whole experience.
The menu
The world’s smallest chefs from Spain, Italy, Japan and of course, Le Petit Chef from France, will be there. They’re all fighting to win your heart! Each chef prepares a course. For example, the standard menu looks like this:
Pequeña Maria | Spain:
Tomato Bread Salad Manchego | Balsamic Glaze | Basil | Olive | Crispy Jamon
Piccolo Luciano | Italy:
Truffle Ravioli Freshly Shaved Truffle | Mushroom Earth | Pancetta Truffle Sauce | Parmesan Chip | Shimeji Mushrooms
Le Petit Chef | France:
Steak & Fries Grilled Beef Fillet | Béarnaise Sauce | Braised Carrot French Fries
Chisano Takahiro | Japan:
Japanese Mont Blanc White Chocolate Cake | Lemon Sorbet | Wasabi Matcha Cream | Raspberry
There are plenty of menu options (including vegetarian and kids’ meals), so everyone is covered. Each seating is between 1 and a half and 2 hours.
About Le Petit Chef (and the tech behind it)

‘The World’s Smallest Chef’ was born in France in 2015. “Le Petit Chef” is a 6cm-tall animated character created by the art collective Skullmapping. This unique San Diego dining event uses advanced 3D projection mapping – not holograms – to turn your table into a stage.
Using clever optical illusions and precise angles, the technology projects a story directly onto your plates and cutlery. As a result, you get to enjoy an immersive dinner where gourmet food is perfectly synchronized with themed music, props, and a whimsical visual narrative. You don’t wanna miss this!
