According to StarWars.com, Kennedy revealed that a new Star Wars trilogy comprising three live-action movies will soon hit the silver screen. James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will each direct an installment.
Kennedy said during her announcement:
“As you can see by all the television we’ve been doing, we’re exploring a lot of different storylines. This really spawns from what George Lucas said years ago, that he created Star Wars to move forward and backward along a mythological timeline. Now we’re looking to broaden that timeline, building a rich future, expanding upon the present, going deep into the past to tell our stories, and we’re thrilled to be working with some of the best and most passionate filmmakers on projects that will span the past, the present, and the future.”

Dave Filoni, a seasoned Star Wars director who has established much of the lore in series like The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will direct a film revolving around the New Republic, bringing together storylines set in motion by various Disney+ series, such as The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.
James Mangold, the director of the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, will explore the origins of the Jedi. Obaid-Chinoy—who co-directed the Ms. Marvel series—will direct a film set after the events of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. Obaid-Chinoy’s film will also feature Daisy Ridley’s Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order.
