PB is the spot for San Diego’s college students and young professionals
Pacific Beach, or PB as it’s known, is a fountain of youth between La Jolla and Mission Beach. This fun leveling neighborhood is ideal for college students and young professionals and of course, the young at heart! So we decided to put together a list of 7 of our favorite beach bars to enjoy the weekend!
1. The Grass Skirt
The Grass Skirt is your Tiki bar dream come true. This hidden gem is located inside Good Time Poke, giving the bar an exclusive and speakeasy vibe! This is perfect for those of us who love a bar with a theme! You’ll find both fire pit tables and swings to perfectly fit this aesthetic. They have a delicious and varied menu filled with tropical drinks. And they also have a secret cocktail menu that you’ll have to ask about!
Location: 910 Grand Ave, San Diego, CA 92109
2. The Duck Dive
The Duck Dive is the perfect spot for a chill yet sophisticated night. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun-going, yet they offer an elevated drinking experience. You’ll find your favorite cocktails, as well as local beers. These go beautifully with the delicious treats at the Duck Dive, such as baked brie, Caprese salad, herb-crusted rib eye, and tableside s’mores! There’s a small dance floor perfect for dancing the night away!
Location: 4650 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109
3. Cass Street Bar
Cass Street is a PB staple with a varied crowd. It’s busy from a day well into the night, so it’s always a reliable choice for a great time. You can find groups enjoying a beer and playing a game of pool or shuffleboard while another has a casual lunch and drinks- We love their sake-based cocktails! Some of their best lunch options include chicken baguette and cioppino.
Location: 4612 Cass Street, San Diego, CA 92109
4. Pacific Beach Alehouse
This popular spot may be a lively place to get a drink, but they sure are serious about their craft beer! The brewery uses only premium ingredients and hops harvested worldwide in their 8 signature beers. Whitewash Wheat, for example, is a delicious Belgian-style white beer you cannot miss!
Location: 721 Grand Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109
5. Crushed
Crushed is a fantastic spot for both lunch and a PB night out. The spot’s
trendy ambiance and great value prices are unbeatable. You’ll find an extensive drinks menu with beers and cocktails. If you like your drinks fruity, you have to try the San Diego Jam, a delicious blackberry cider. Some of our favorite menu items include their curry fries and chicken chilaquiles!
Location: 967 Garnet Ave San Diego, CA 92109
6. Backyard Kitchen & Tap
Backyard Kitchen is a local favorite for good reason. Their varied drinks menu includes local craft beer and delicious cocktails. You also have the option of their three cabanas, indoor and outdoor bars, and a family-friendly patio with live music. If you’re on the hunt for a spot to catch the next game, look no further since Backyard is a local favorite for watching sports. During the weekends, this spot transforms into a fabulous nightlife spot.

7. PB Shore Club
PB Shores is just what its name implies, a spot right on the shore. Once you’ve worked on your tan (or tan lines), this is the ideal spot to get a refreshing beer. Their menu has a great selection of Mexican food, and we particularly love their fish and lobster tacos. Since PB Shore Club is on the smaller size, it’s a good idea to try a table when you have the chance!
