Nothing says Autumn like spending the day in a pumpkin patch!

These 6 amazing pumpkin patches are the perfect way to get into the spooky Halloween mood! These pumpkin patches are spread throughout and around San Diego, so you’re sure to find your perfect spot! There are also family-friendly activities in these spots, such as giant mazes, pony rides, and more!

1. The Bates Nut Farm

You have until Halloween to find your ideal pumpkin in this picturesque pumpkin patch! The Bates Nut Farm is a lovely family farm that specializes in a variety of delicious nuts. However, when autumn comes knocking, they provide us with a beautiful quintessential fall activity- pumpkin patches! This iconic pumpkin patch is under an hour away from San Diego and has been a part of over 50 years worth of fall traditions and memories. They also have other fall activities to try, like tractor hayrides, straw mazes, as well as a petting corral and Snows Pony Rides!

2. Pumpkin Express

All aboard the Pumpkin Express! The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association is once again celebrating the fall with its Annual Pumpkin Express Halloween Celebration! Enter an autumnal dream as you ride the spooky vintage railcars through the San Diego county mountains. Explore their themed Display Building, which includes two haunted trains, a pumpkin patch, and a creepy cast of ghosts and ghouls. Ticket cost ranges from $5 to $18. They are open on Saturdays and Sundays in October beginning in October 9. Departure times are 10:30 am, 11:45 am, 1:30 pm, and 2:45 pm.

3. Mountain Valley Ranch Pumpkin Patch

Mountain Valley Ranch has its annual pumpkin patch season until October 31. You’ll find this idyllic ranch near the small mountain town of Ramona and get a giant pumpkin to carve or cook! After you get your pumpkin, you can explore their massive corn maze! They also have a farm where you can pet the animals. The cost of admission is free, and they are open from 9 am to 6 pm. The pumpkin prices vary.

4. Farm Stand West’s Pumpkin Patch

All throughout October, The Far Stand West will be hosting a you-pick Pumpkin Patch. They are open from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free and the cost of pumpkins varies.

5. Oma’s Pumpkin Patch

Oma’s Pumpkin Patch is another perfect spot for the whole family. The child admission includes a Jack Patch pumpkin, a variety of games, trucks, and tractors, and even a climbable Cottonseed Mountain! The tickets are only available online, so plan ahead. They are open from 10 am to 7 pm and the costs range from $9 to $20 depending on the day and they are open from Tuesday to Saturday.

6. Pumpkin Station

Visit your nearest Pumpkin Station where kids can find the perfect pumpkin while enjoying kiddie rides, slides, inflatable play centers, and a petting zoo! These are the Pumpkin Stations: Del Mar, Mission Valley, and Plaza Bonita. There are also two actual farms to visit which are Bonita and Rancho Bernardo. Admission is free and masks are encouraged.
