Is your camera roll filled with hundreds of photos of your pet napping and playing? It’s time to put those snapshots to good use. The San Diego Humane Society has officially kicked off its 34th annual Photo Fundraiser! Local pets now have a chance at calendar fame while raising crucial funds for animals in need.
The friendly community competition is open to all companion animals. Whether your best friend is a dog, a cat, a rabbit, a lizard, or a bird, they’re all eligible to compete for a spot in the 2027 calendar.
How to play and pay it forward

Entering the contest is simple: pick your favorite pet photo, upload it, and start campaigning. Participants are encouraged to rally friends, family, and social media followers to cast their votes.
Every vote costs just $1, and the stakes are higher than bragging rights. Every dollar raised directly funds the San Diego Humane Society’s lifesaving services, like medical care, animal rescue, and rehabilitation efforts.
Proceeds from this annual fundraiser are essential to the organization, which cares for more than 40,000 animals every year.
Prizes for a good boy or girl

This year’s top-voted pets will be featured on a special page inside the 2027 calendar, but the rewards don’t stop there. They’re all up for:
- A reserved, full-month spread in the upcoming 2028 calendar.
- A 2-night stay at the pet-friendly Loews Coronado Bay Resort.
- Tickets to the San Diego Humane Society’s Fur Ball gala.
Even if your pet doesn’t take home the grand prize, they won’t be left out. Any pet that receives at least 5 votes is guaranteed inclusion in the 2027 calendar.

Entries and voting are currently open and will run through August 31, 2026. To upload your pet’s photo, review the official rules, or cast your first vote to support animals in need, visit sdhumane.org/photocontest.
