Get your appetites ready! The 5th annual San Diego Soul Food Fest is making its highly anticipated return on August 1st – and it’s bringing the absolute best flavors of the African Diaspora right to our backyard.
San Diego Soul Food Fest – the story behind the event

Founded in 2021 by foodies and event planners Alysse and Ashley, the festival was born out of a shared passion for community, culture, and incredible cuisine. After meeting while working at a local university, the duo realized that soul food rarely gets the spotlight it deserves. They set out to change that narrative, creating a purpose-driven event that honors the rich history and distinct foodways of African, Caribbean, and African-American cultures.
What’s on the menu?

Of course, the real stars of the show are the vendors. This year’s lineup is guaranteed to satisfy every craving, so come hungry.
Try local favorites like Chef Budda Blasian Soul Food, Jingles Jamaican Kuisine, and Nelly’s Kitchen. If you’re looking for a hearty comfort meal, check out Sac’s Magic Fry or The Remix. Want to treat yourself to something sweet? Try Mitri’s Delights and a refreshing drink from God’s Juice. You get it – there’s a plate for everyone.
Beyond the incredible menus, the San Diego Soul Food Fest is all about good people and good vibes. It’s a family-friendly community gathering filled with music, delicious food, and deep cultural connection. Mark your calendars for August 1st and come experience a flavorful journey that celebrates what soul food is (and what it can be).
