Spring has brought a wave of absolute adorableness at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park: the arrival of 3 bat-eared fox kits! Born in late April, these tiny additions mark a special milestone for the park. They’re the first of their species to be born at the facility since 2023.
Meet the cutest bat-eared fox kits
After spending their first weeks tucked away enjoying some quiet bonding time in the den, the tiny trio is finally out and about. You can see these cuties eagerly exploring their habitat in the park’s Nairobi Village.
The kits are under the careful guidance of their mother, Winter, and first-time dad, Teddy. According to wildlife specialists, Teddy has taken his new parenting role incredibly seriously. He keeps a watchful eye on his little fox pack as the curious ones discover their surroundings.
What’s a bat-eared fox?
Bat-eared foxes are famous for their oversized ears, which serve as nature’s perfect radar for detecting insects in the wild. In this case, however, those giant ears are just one part of their charm. Between their high-pitched squeaks, their clumsy curiosity, and an endless supply of energy (aka zoomies), the trio has captured the hearts of staff and guests alike.
Don’t forget to pay them a visit – and check out the adorable baby pudu, as well!
