The city is in bloom, and there’s so much to do!
With March comes Spring, and what better way of celebrating this beautiful season than by taking advantage of all our city has to offer. Though the season doesn’t officially change until March 20, the city is already in full bloom! There are so many wonderful things happening this month such as the flower fields blooming, International Women’s Month, St. Patrick’s Day, and more! Since there’s so much going on we decided to put together a list of 17 fantastic things to do in San Diego this month.
1. San Diegans Ride For Free
San Diego County residents can take advantage of free tours and attractions from Old Town Trolley with the Hometown Pass. You can also take advantage of free rides if you are accompanied by a full fare adult paid with Hometown Pass!
2. Women of the World Panel, UC San Diego
Celebrate International Women’s Month at this unique UC San Diego event. On Wednesday, March 13, they will host the Women of the World Panel from 12-2p at their Women’s Center. The event aims to celebrate and bring awareness to the struggles, strengths, and issues involving women of the world. This informative and important event is a great way to get involved with this critical discussion.
3. Carlsbad Flower Fields
Since the first of the month, the mesmerizing Carlsbad Flower Field has brought joy and color to San Diegans. The bountiful fields will capture bright oranges, vibrant pinks, soulful purples, and every hue in between!
4. Seaworld’s Seven Seas Craft Beer & Food Festival
From March 4 until May 1, foodies and beer lovers can celebrate at SeaWorld’s Seven Seas Craft Beer & Food Festival. The event will feature local craft beer from San Diego’s best breweries and delicious food from around the globe!
5. Spring Busker Festival, Seaport Village
If you’re up for some bizarre entertainment, then you should definitely check out San Diego’s Spring Busker Festival at Seaport Village. You’ll see so many unique performances such as sword swallowing, knife throwing, and so much more. The festival takes place on March 7 &8, and there will be so much fun like the shows, shopping, dining and more.
6. Enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day pint
St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, so get ready to celebrate San Diego style! One of the best Irish pubs in the city is The Field in the historic Gaslamp District.
7. March Madness
Hey San Diegans, the NCAA® March Madness is coming to our city! The 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship will host its first and second rounds right here in Viejas Arena from March 18-20.
8. San Diego Theatre Week
March is a great month to be a theatre aficionado in San Diego!
From March 4-14 The San Diego Theatre Week is bringing is an exciting program of the San Diego Performing Arts League. The aim of the program is to highlight the importance of San Diego’s diverse performing arts community.
9. San Diego Latino Film Festival
Mark your calendars, cinephiles! From March 10-20, San Diego’s 29th Latino Film Festival is here! The festival will feature amazing movies along with spectacular Q&A sessions with the filmmakers as other great events. There will be film screenings in different formats, such as virtual as well as drive-in screenings! You can’t miss their Sonido Latino concert and the amazing awards ceremony!
10. Cherry Blossom Festival
The Cherry Blossom Festival is almost here! From March 11-13, this dreamlike festival will celebrate Japanese culture and beauty! The Along spectacular cherry blossoms will obviously be the stars of the show. However, there will be much more to enjoy. Some things we cant wait to see include the beer and sake garden and the tea and dessert garden! Other fun activities include daily live performances as well as delicious food from vendors.
11. ‘SEEING THE INVISIBLE’ Augmented Reality Art Show, San Diego Botanical Gardens
All month long, you can experience augmented reality like never before. The SEEING THE INVISIBLE’ AUGMENTED REALITY ART SHOW in San Diego Botanic Gardens will demonstrate world-class technology pushing the boundaries of contemporary art!
12. Tiny Fest, Del Mar Fairgrounds
As tiny homes are becoming increasingly popular and accessible, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about this sustainable lifestyle. At Tiny Fest, you can meet the people building these smaller homes, chat with homeowners who have made the tiny move, and even consult the vendors! There will be fun live music, food, and a lot of pocket-sized fun to be had.
13. St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival, BALBOA PARK
San Diego’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest parade west of the Mississippi! There will be so many attractions to enjoy on March 12, such as the mesmerizing floats, the talented high school marching bands, festive street performers, antique cars, and more!
14. ShamROCK
Celebrate all things Irland on March 12. The Shamrock celebrations will take over the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter district. This will be the 26th Annual ShamROCK festivities. There will be a full lineup of the best Irish & Celtic Rock bands and impressive tribute bands and Irish dancers!
15. Watch David Spade, Balboa Park
David Spade is bringing his trademark humor to Balboa Theatre on March 19. Spade is currently on his Catch Me Inside Tour.
16. San Diego Half Marathon & Padres 5K
Get ready, set, go! On March 27, the San Diego half marathon and Padres 5K will take place. The best part is that the finish line for this fantastic race is inside the ballpark!
17. City Ballet, Balboa Theatre
Now that Ballet Core is trending, why not enjoy its beauty and artistry right here in San Diego! City Ballet of San Diego is presenting their take on George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, as well as Danses Concertantes and La Bayadere—Kingdom of the Shades, at Balboa Theatre. You can catch the shows on March 25 and 26.
