Well, let’s face it…we have pretty good in San Diego when it comes to most things. However – this may be an exception. According to a recent LendingTree study on car accident rates among the 50 largest U.S. cities, California is home to some of the most dangerous roads in the country. While Raleigh, North Carolina, took the top spot with 29.1 accidents per 1,000 drivers, San Diego ranks as the 2nd most dangerous city with a rate of 28.2. Yikes…?
San Diego has the 2nd most dangerous roads in the U.S.
The research attributes this trend partly to how much time California drivers spend in traffic. “Drivers living in major California cities tend to spend a lot of time in heavy traffic. That means more interactions between vehicles, whether that’s merging onto a freeway, changing lanes or navigating busy intersections. And every additional interaction creates another opportunity for an accident.”
This news come just one year after an Allstate study named a stretch of Interstate 8 in San Diego as one of the most dangerous road segment in the United States.
