LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency just dropped some big news: they’re officially adding a brand-new daily roundtrip for the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner between San Diego and LA! These extra trains will give travelers more flexibility and convenience on what is easily one of the busiest – and most scenic – train lines in the country.

Mark your calendars for January 26, 2026. That is when the new schedule kicks in, designed to cut down on those annoying wait times between trains. Oh, and there’s also a sweet deal up for grabs: if you use the code V526, you’ll score a 20% discount on Pacific Surfliner trips taken between January 26 and March 13, 2026.
Jason Jewell, the Managing Director at LOSSAN, mentioned that hitting this 13th roundtrip between San Diego and LA is a really big deal Why? Because it brings service all the way back to pre-pandemic levels. Took us a while, but we’re back BACK!
With these updates, the Pacific Surfliner is now rocking a pretty robust lineup:
- 13 daily roundtrips back and forth between San Diego and LA.
- 5 daily roundtrips connecting San Diego and Goleta.
- 2 massive full-corridor roundtrips running all the way from San Diego to San Luis Obispo.
And don’t worry, the Amtrak Connection bus service isn’t going anywhere. It still offers guaranteed hookups heading north to Oakland and southeast to Indio. Through it, it’s easy to reach spots like Solvang, Paso Robles, Riverside, Palm Springs, and Palm Desert.
