Boba Tea is the delicious Taiwanese treat that has risen to become a new international favorite!
It was invented in Taiwan during the 1980s; however, boba didn’t reach its global status until the mid-2000s. It has now become so popular you can find at least a few shops in most cities! San Diego is lucky to have quite a collection of fantastic boba spots. These are some of our ultimate favorites!
1. CHAKAA Tea House
Chaka Tea house is a wonderful local stop for excellent Boba! We highly recommend their Brûlée Match, particularly if you like sweet and creamy drinks. Their bestseller is Superfruit Tea. This tea is a perfectly blended mix of orange, lime, lemon, strawberry, passionfruit, and peach. This refreshing drink is a delicious solution to our hot Vegas weather!

2. Tan-Cha
Boba is largely known for its large staws. However, you won’t find any at this Rowland-based teahouse. Instead, the teacups are designed for drinking from a 45-degree angle. Tan-Chan’s has particularly delicious cream and foam topping their teas. A few outstanding teas include Royal Ceylon Milk Tea with Tiramisu Puff Cream and Brulee Milk Tea with Boba.

3. Camellia Road Tea Bar
This Boba favorite was recently opened in 2017. It was founded by childhood friends Darwin and Ricky, who grew up in SoCal’s San Gabriel Valley. Their shared Cantonese-American roots planted the idea of Camellia Rd for over 10 years before it became a reality.

4. The Korean Rose
The Korean Rose has Boba menu with plenty of options like Hokkaido, Honeydew, Matcha, Okinawa, Rose, Taro and Wintermelon. They have a lot of other drinks, and we’d love to try them all!

5.Little Nap
Little Nap is an excellent Hillcrest spot with great boba and desserts. They offer Japanese Fusion foods such as sandwiches and steamed buns with their house sauces and all-natural protein. You can build your own ice cream bar and pick from flavors such as chocolate strawberry, vanilla, dark chocolate, along with any toppings of your choice. They also have vegan options! We also recommend their Hokkaido soft serve with mango and honey boba. It’s a delicious and refreshing drink!

6. Tea N More
Tea N More is a cozy local spot with great tea and a bunch of yummy food. If you are new to boba tea, then we recommend Thai milk with boba, as it is a fantastic introduction to the world of boba! Their Rose milk tea with boba is also delicious! They also have excellent crepes that go perfectly with any drink of your choice!

7. Tapioca Express
Tapioca Express is an Asian fusion restaurant that has a lot of great tea and food! Their Spicy chicken rice dish is a favorite among regulars. It goes excellent with Greenapple Honey Green Tea iced with boba or their unique Avocado Snowbubble’s with boba!

8. Baobar boba+bun
Baobar is a fantastic boba shop in the beautiful Liberty Public Marketin the iconic Liberty Station. They have outstanding boba, such as their tasty black milk tea with boba! They also have an amazing Military Monday deal, in which customers with a valid Military I.D or uniform get 15% off.
