Great news, strawberry lovers – San Diego’s favorite red gems are back! If you’ve been dreaming of sun-ripened sweetness all winter, it’s time to wake up and smell the strawberries…well, at least the first signs of them. Our favorite local, family-owned, farm – The Carlsbad Strawberry Company – has officially kicked off its 2026 season.
Visit The Carlsbad Strawberry Company

Before you grab your baskets and sprint out the door, here’s the scoop on the early season logistics. The stand is currently open daily at 1050 Cannon Rd in Carlsbad. Right now, we can only rely on tentative hours, which are running from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. The catch? They’re only open while supplies last. Since it’s early in the season, berries might sell out fast, so the early bird definitely gets the produce.
Can I pick my own strawberries at The Carlsbad Strawberry Company?
We all know that the favorite activity here is the U-Pick part of the experience. Crucial note: U-Pick is not open just yet.
The fields need a little more time before they’re ready for foot traffic. For now, you can grab pre-picked buckets of fresh berries at the stand. Keep an eye on this page for updates on when the fields will open up for that classic pick-your-own experience.
A local legacy

While you’re snacking on Albion strawberries (a variety known for its exceptional sweetness), it’s cool to know exactly who you’re supporting.
The Carlsbad Strawberry Company isn’t just a roadside stop, but a piece of local history. Run by the Ukegawa family, this is a 4th-generation farm that’s been a pillar of Carlsbad agriculture since the 1950s.
They have weathered decades of changes in the region. From rising water costs to stiff competition, it’s been a ride. However, by sticking to quality and community connection, they’re still here today.
While The Carlsbad Strawberry Company is famous for producing roughly 21 tons of strawberries per acre, they’re also behind the beloved Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in the fall. It’s a family operation that has successfully turned a working farm into a space where the community gathers year-round.
So, head over to Cannon Road, and support our local heroes, while you enjoy those delicious first strawberries of the year.
