Cinema Under The Stars is resurrecting a Hitchcock classic this week.
Halloween is just around the corner. And what better way to finish out the month of October than with a screening of one of the most iconic horror films of all time? Cinema Under The Stars, a premier outdoor theater in Mission Hills, is celebrating the spooky season with Hitchcock’s iconic 1960 thriller, Psycho. [Featured image: Yelp/Cinema Under The Stars]
One of the pioneers, if not the pioneer, of the slasher film genre, this film follows the story of a woman named Marion who skips town after embezzling money from her employer. On the run, she checks into the Bates Motel (yes, that Bates Motel), where she meets the infamous Norman Bates.
If you happen to have been a fan of the popular Netflix series, Bates Motel, then you know just the brand of twisted Norman Bates is. The series, which is the prequel to Hitchcock’s psychological horror flick, gives fans more insight and a deeper dive into the goings-on at Bates Motel prior to Marion’s arrival. If you haven’t already seen it, it’s definitely worth adding to your list of creepy Netflix series to watch this season.
Whether you’re new to Hitchcock or you’re a die-hard fan, Psycho is the perfect spine-chilling flick to revive this Halloween. And you can do it in style! Cinema Under The Stars, known for screening classics and cult favorites, claims to have perfected the outdoor movie experience, and we can totally see why.
Their massive 20-foot screen with HD projection and surround sound allows viewers to get the full effect of favorite old-school films. The theater takes extra care to make sure that viewers are cozy and comfortable while watching, offering an abundance of seating options, including single & double zero gravity recliners, as well as blankets and space heaters. The theater even has a retractable roof so that the show can go on if the weather goes a little south.
Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the venue, but a variety of drinks, candies and popcorn are available for purchase at the concessions stand for just $2 each.
The first showing of Psycho starts this Thursday, October 29 at 8pm, and screenings continue every day through Sunday, November 1. Admission at the box office is $18 for non-members (members $17), and online tickets are $20.
