Fort Cross is a family farm with hands-on outdoor education for all ages. It was originally centered around living history, but they’re now hosting events and activities that involve music, art, survival skills, team building, and agriculture workshops. However, things turn eerie in October, when the Haunted Harvest comes to life.
Haunted Harvest @ Fort Cross

The seasonal activities at the farm include jug band music, hoedown, ghost stories, and the famous haunted hayride. What makes the latter the most popular, but also the creepiest, is how realistic it can feel. The experience isn’t your usual ‘scary’, as in jump scares, blood, or people chasing you in the woods with fake weapons. It’s more on the eerie, this-could-have-happened side of things. Icing on the cake is that after hearing these spooky stories, you get off the ride and just…walk into the dark woods. No lights, no support, just you (and your group) and…who knows what else. Yikes.
Is it fit for kids?

As the organizers put it, it depends. If your kid is into ghost stories and scary experiences, then sure! However, it can get creepy, it can get scary, and there have been times when children cried and didn’t have a good time. Therefore, it’s a you call, as you know your kid best – it can be super fun for some, and probably a bit traumatic for others. At its core, this experience isn’t designed for kids.
P.S. here’s a list of things to do with kids instead.
