Ready for the ultimate neighborhood summer street party? On Sunday, August 9, San Diego’s largest free music festival returns with the colorful Hillcrest CityFest. Taking over 5th Avenue from noon until 11 PM, this block party stretches across 9 city blocks, drawing over 70,000 visitors to celebrate community and diversity.
Known by locals as Pride-Light, CityFest honors Hillcrest’s 40-year legacy as the heart of San Diego’s LGBTQ+ community. The festival is a tribute to the neighborhood’s ongoing championship of equality and inclusion. Needless to say – it’s a lot of fun!
What’s up at Hillcrest CityFest?
Throughout the day, the streets will be packed with hundreds of local vendors, artists, crafters, and food stalls. Families can head over to the CityFest Kid’s Zone for arts, crafts, and storytime.
New for 2026 is the CityFest Wine Garden in Mural Alley. From 12 PM to 6 PM, guests 21 and older can purchase tasting tickets to sample curated selections from local wineries like Cork & Stem, Negociant Winery, and Pali Wine Co. You’ll also get a limited-edition commemorative Hillcrest Govino glass.
If craft beer or cocktails are more your style, designated beer gardens and cocktail bars will be placed near the performance areas.
Enjoy 20+ hours of free entertainment

CityFest features 2 stages with a diverse lineup of singer-songwriters, indie rock bands, and rappers. As the sun goes down, the energy ramps up. From 7 PM on, CityFest After Dark takes over. This nighttime transformation brings EDM and live DJs, turning the neighborhood into an electrifying dance party.
With free admission, endless entertainment, and a fun spirit, the 2026 Hillcrest CityFest is an unmissable summer tradition.
