Just an hour east of San Diego lies the beloved Julian Farm and Orchard. With 25 acres of lush agriculture and apple orchards, this sustainable agritourism destination offers visitors the charm of a working farm without any of the heavy lifting. Needless to say, it’s a favorite destination for San Diego families.
Whether you’re looking to pick your own fruit, meet the cuties of the animal sanctuary, or just sip on apple ciders, the farm’s 2026 fall season is a memorable escape. Here’s everything you need to know about visiting Julian Farm and Orchard this season!
Harvest Fest at Julian: September 4 – November 15, 2026

The farm’s highly anticipated Harvest Fest runs every weekend from September 4 through November 15 (10 AM to 4 PM). The famous pumpkin patch is the centerpiece, offering a variety of sizes and types of pumpkins. There’s even a limited supply of cut-off-the-vine options!
Beyond pumpkins, Harvest Fest is packed with activities tailored to all ages:
- Farm fun: Enjoy petting zoo visits, hayrides, and cider press demonstrations.
- Thrilling activities: The farm offers rock climbing, axe throwing, an apple cannon, and a heavy-duty bell ringer. These activities require a signed liability waiver and closed-toed shoes.
- U-Pick fields: You can purchase containers and cutting tools onsite to search for hidden berries and fresh flowers.
The U-Pick apple experience
Julian Farm and Orchard grows 15 different varieties of apples! Because it’s a sustainable farm that avoids harsh pesticides, the apples are grown as naturally as possible.
For the 2026 season, the farm anticipates a robust U-Pick season starting in early to mid-October. Of course, that’s entirely dependent on…Mother Nature!
To participate in apple picking, you must book a tour in advance:
- Educational tours: The 30-to-45-minute guided walking tour takes you through the orchards. Knowledgeable staff members share fascinating facts, point out hidden agricultural details, and guide you to the trees with the best ripe fruit.
- Booking details: General admission does not cover U-Pick apples. You must reserve a tour slot (capped at 25 participants) and purchase a farm-provided U-Pick bag upon check-in.
- Before you go: Be sure to dress for a working farm: closed-toed shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and drinking water are highly recommended.
Ticket prices differ, depending on what you’d like to experience. They start at just $10 – see the full list here.
