Get ready to celebrate freedom, heritage, and community at San Diego’s largest Juneteenth experience. Hosted by SD Melanin, Kinfolk Fest returns to Waterfront Park on Saturday, June 20. Known as the “Black family reunion you don’t want to miss,” the festival is a celebration of Black joy, music, business, and culture.
The vibe & what to expect at this Juneteenth celebrations
Kinfolk Fest transforms Waterfront Park into a great celebration. You can expect a densely programmed afternoon stretching from 1 PM to 9 PM, featuring:
- Live music: A lineup of live music and DJs spinning R&B, Hip Hop, and Afrobeats. The 2026 schedule includes Ainjo, Bar1ne, Birdy Bird, Cowbell Chris, and many more, hosted by Tha Speakerboxx and Jonnaé Thompson.
- A vendor village: Ready to shop? The marketplace features over 100 Black-owned businesses, creators, and artists.
- Amazing food: Food vendors will be serving up a variety of cuisine, complemented by cocktails and a full bar.
- Play & connect: The festival goes beyond music and food with interactive art activations, immersive photo moments, and a popular Spades tournament.
A full week of events
While Saturday is the main attraction, SD Melanin is hosting an entire week of events:
- Wednesday, June 17: Kinfolk Connect – a free entrepreneur workshop for local creators and business owners
- Friday, June 19: Now That’s R&B @ Kinfolk – the official R&B Juneteenth Night kickoff party
- Saturday, June 20: Main Event: Kinfolk Fest
- Sunday, June 21: ONYX x Kinfolk – a relaxing Black artist exhibition to close out the weekend.
Know before you go
If you’re planning to attend this Juneteenth celebration, here are the logistics:
- Age restriction: The main festival is strictly 21 and up.
- Tickets: General admission tickets start around $28 and are non-refundable. VIP options are available and include priority entry, shaded seating, a private cash bar, and luxury restrooms.
- What to bring: Sunscreen, and a blanket or foldable chair are highly recommended. Note that no outside food or drinks are allowed, and pets must stay home (service animals are allowed).
