It’s nearly time for Americans to move their clock forward, losing an hour of sleep but gaining an hour in the evening. This is often a sign that warmer weather is on the way and we can finally start spending more time outdoors.
California is one state that continues with the tradition of springing forward every month, something we’ve known since as far back as we an remember, although there is a law that’s trying to make this permanent.
On Sunday, March 10th at 2am, clocks will automatically adjust (or you’ll have to manually do it yourself) meaning you get one less hour of sleep which can definitely be difficult to manage the following Monday. But we get longer afternoons. Here’s how our sunrise and sunsets will be looking from March 7 to March 15:
The “Sunshine Protection Act” has been re-introduced this year on March 2nd after a law to stop Daylight Savings Time was stalled until it fizzled out in 2022. And according to a Forbes article, springing forward can be hard for Americans who lose a precious hour of sleep and don’t feel they can really recover it even in November when we fall forward.
Whether or not you’re a fan of DST or not, it’s coming this Sunday, March 10, so why not try to make the most of it by getting out there to the beach with that extra hour of sunshine we have.
