San Diego Zoo & Safari Park Will Reopen This Saturday

With the statewide stay-at-home order lifted, the zoo can now safely resume outdoor activities.

San Diegans can finally visit their favorite wildlife again this weekend! San Diego Zoo announced this week that it is preparing to reopen this Saturday, January 30. Both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park will resume operations, with modifications in accordance with state and county safety regulations.

In the initial reopening phase, the parks will open with reduced daily capacity. Not everything will be open, but visitors can still enjoy the wildlife and limited shows, shopping, dining, and transportation experiences. Reservations must be made online in advance.

“Although your next visit might feel a bit different from your past treks through the Zoo and Safari Park, you’ll discover there is still plenty to see and do,” said the park in its announcement on Monday.

Safety is of the utmost importance, and San Diego Zoo has several measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety. Face masks are required for all guests aged 2 and up, and there is a Welcome Tent set up at the entrance where visitors answer some brief health screening questions before entry. Within the park, additional measures are in place, including social distancing markers, hand sanitizer stations and some one-direction routes.
