From September 18 until Halloween, you can go find the perfect pumpkin in this picturesque pumpkin patch!
The Bates Nut Farm is a lovely family farm that specializes in a variety of delicious nuts. However, when autumn comes knocking, they provide us with a beautiful quintessential fall activity- pumpkin patches! This iconic pumpkin patch is under an hour away from San Diego and has been a part of over 50 years worth of fall traditions and memories. Once you visit it will undoubtedly create many new ones for you.
There are also other fall activities to try, like tractor hayrides, straw mazes, as well as a petting corral and Snows Pony Rides!
You’ll see such a wide range of colorful produce to pick, such as Big Macs, Ghost, Cinderella, Jack O’ Lantern, minis, squash, gourds, and more! We recommend you keep an eye out on their calendar for details on more special events. This is one of few farms that allow dogs as long as they stay on a leash.
The Pumpkin Patch is open from September 18 to Halloween from 9 am to 5 pm, which is plenty of time to soak in as much autumnal fun as possible! They also offer free Parking and Admission on weekdays, making this a great place to visit throughout the fall season. However, there is an $8 Entrance Fee Per Car on October Weekends.
The pony rides are available on the weekends and cost $9.00 for kids. (The maximum height is 52″ and the maximum weight is 70 Lb.)
The Bates Shop is a definite must-see spot, and you’ll find farm antiques and tools lining the walls. As you walk in, the scent of their freshly made fudge, delicious nuts, candies, dried fruits will fill the room and remind you of the best autumn has to offer. They have a spectacular old-fashioned candy counter that has over 25 feet of counter space! It is completely covered with truffles, mammoth turtles, and many more goodies.
In 1921, husband and wife Gilbert and Beatrice Bates moved their family to the picturesque valley of Valley Center, where they purchased the Walnut Slope Ranch. The family of 7 lived and worked on the farm. Its lovely picnic and park areas, farm zoo, and pumpkin patch have provided locals with a gorgeous escape to simpler childhood-like memories that will last a lifetime!
