Imagine you’re casually out with your partner, when a photographer asks if you’d like to take part in a quick photoshoot. You like the idea, say yes, strike a pose…and it turns out to be one of the most important and beautiful moments of your life.
Actually, you’re about to get engaged to the love of your life. And while the intimate moment is yours only, the entire internet will witness it later on, and millions of people will be touched by it. Sounds like Disney? It’s a completely true story, and it belongs to Loren and Luke.
Following the beautiful moment, we reached out and asked them a couple of questions, to bring their story to you. Here we go!
First of all, huge congratulations to you both! How did you meet?
Thank you – we met on Hinge! It took a couple of attempts to match (she swiped left!) but eventually matched in July 2024. She is originally from the Bay area, and I am originally from Pittsburgh.
What led to this moment?
(Luke says) I knew the moment I met her, on our first date, that I wanted to marry her. Over the months of dating, traveling, and experiencing life together, that thought was only reinforced. I would’ve proposed sooner but wanted to make it special so it took time…and I guess it worked out!
Do you have a favorite memory whilst dating in San Diego?
On our 3rd date, we walked around the bay at Crown Point Pacific Beach and it was just a beautiful depiction of SD (Luke was new to the area around that time) and also one of our fondest memories.
Any favorite date spots in SD or SoCal you’d recommend?
Obviously a Candlelight concert hah! But some others we have gone to and love are Seaport Village, Botanical Gardens in Vista, Indoor Skydiving, a Pasta Making class called Mattarello, and many more.
Do you have some dating tips for fellow San Diegans?
Think outside the box, and try new things, ’cause even if they don’t work out, the memories you’ll make along the way will be stories for the next time. Also, keep trying if you’re looking for love – we both went through a lot of other dates (years worth) prior to meeting one another. Lastly, enjoy the time you have with the people you love . That’s the most important.
Is there anything you’d like people to know in light of the reactions to your viral proposal?
I want them to know we are incredibly blessed that it has moved many people to believe that this is REAL. It’s not a fairytale or a dream. This is how we love each other and we are glad to show that to others. The avatar song tied it altogether with the background of the show, if you’re familiar!
