It’s January, which means a new beginning. Some of us are looking to start a healthier way of life, others want to maintain it, and some are simply seeking more calm, peace, and quiet. Luckily, America’s Finest City has it all: top-notch yoga and pilates studios, some of the best nature and hikes in the US at our footsteps, red light therapy, and more. Without further ado, here’s your wellness guide with our favorite spots, for a better 2026.
Yoga studios
- Trilogy Sanctuary (La Jolla): This is a staple of the San Diego wellness scene, famous for its rooftop aerial yoga classes with ocean views. Does it get better than this? Moreover, it also doubles as an organic, vegan cafe. It’s the perfect destination for a Sunday morning.
- Yoga Box (North Park, Pacific Beach, Hillcrest): If you’re looking for a more active experience, this is the studio for a sweaty, intense workout. They’re famous for their “Yoga Sculpt” classes, which blend vinyasa with HIIT in a heated, red-lit room.
Pilates studios
- Ascend Pilates (North Pacific Beach): This one’s for the purists. They offer small group matt classes, capped at just 7 people. They even use Gratz equipment – the original manufacturer designed by Joseph Pilates – in their other sessions.
- SALTVAULT Hot Pilates (Encinitas, Little Italy, Pacific Beach): This is your spot if you’re looking for some intensity. It’s a heated mat pilates, performed under infrared heat. It’s also famous for its club atmosphere, loud music, and challenging sequences – here’s a party that’s actually healthy for you!
- Honor Pilates (Kearny Mesa, La Jolla): This is more of a classic reformer pilates spot compared to many newer, fusion ones. It focuses on high-quality reformers and precise form.
- The Sculpt Room (Pacific Beach): This boutique studio has gained somewhat of a cult following for its DEFINE classes, with a hybrid approach: a reformer machine and strength training. Perfect for those looking to tone and sculpt, but are short on time.
Red light therapy
- Red Light Method (Carmel Mountain): This specialized studio combines red light therapy with movement. Instead of just standing in front of a light, you perform pilates-style workouts or use Power Plates, all while being bathed in medical-grade red light.
- Medical Spas: For the most potent, medical-grade LED treatments, local medical spas like Dr. Malone’s are top-rated. The devices are stronger than what standard gym memberships offer.
Other latest wellness trends

- RAPID Cold Plunge & Sauna (Point Loma – coming in 2026!): This facility specializes in contrast therapy, which means moving between a hot Finnish sauna and a freezing cold plunge. Here, people hang out and recover together.
- Sojourn Healing Collective (Golden Hill): If you’re looking for the spiritual side of wellness, Sojourn is famous for their Sound Baths, Reiki circles, and spiritual fitness workshops.
