Boss said you could “work from anywhere?” Then Scott Muirhead – who was organizing a “work from the beach” session just a couple of months ago, as well as one at the iconic Cafe Coyote – is once again inviting people to take them up on that offer. Literally. This Wednesday, June 10, the San Diego Padres are turning Petco Park into the most scenic workspace in America for their “Remote Work Wednesday” event.
The game and the perks of your brand-new office
At 1:10 PM, as the Padres take on the Cincinnati Reds, trade your desk for sunshine and baseball. As Scott Muirhead said on his IG, grab your laptop and whatever else helps you drive shareholder value: we’re sending emails between innings.
When you purchase the special Theme Game package online, your ticket comes with $10 in Friar Funds. Consider this a little bonus for your working lunch. You can spend it on food and drinks anywhere in the park. Tickets start at just $34!
(Note: You must buy through the official Padres theme game link to get the funds, as regular tickets won’t include it).
Dress code & logistics for Remote Work Wednesday at Petco Park
The required uniform for the day is strict! Go for corporate up top, and San Diego beach day below.
Besides, here’s what you need to know before you arrive:
- Wi-Fi: Petco Park has you covered with free, no-password Wi-Fi (just connect to the “PadresWifi” network)
- Power: There are no charging outlets in the general seating bowl. Make sure your laptop is fully charged before you arrive, or pack a portable charger.
- Security: Beware the stadium bag policy! Approved bags must be clear and no larger than 12”×6”×12”. Since most standard laptop sleeves won’t fit the criteria, your best bet is carrying your laptop in by hand or dropping your bag at an exterior Lock & Go locker.
Forward this to your Slack bestie, and let’s make Petco Park the most productive office in America this Wednesday!
