It took longer than expected, but it’s finally here: Shorebird has opened its doors at Seaport Village, featuring fresh food, brunch favorites, and unforgettable views.
Shorebird at Seaport Village
If you’re looking for front-row views of the bay while you sip on a Bloody Mary or Espresso Martini, look no further. This spot describes itself as a ‘coastal experience rooted in culinary excellence’, and aims to exceed expectations with each bite and moment. For this reason, you won’t find a can, or a frozen bag in the kitchen. Shorebird’s chef is proud to prepare absolutely everything from scratch, every single day. That includes sauces and bread!
But the lack of ore-prepared or conserved ingredients isn’t just for the sake of good food. Shorebird says they want to be part of the community and contribute positively, hence why using the best locally-sourced produce is critical to them.
A fresh start

This new venue is seafood-focused, but features favorites for all, such as burgers, sandwiches, salads and more. It stands in the place of former Pier Cafe, which had been there for decades prior – since 1980. Showbird was expected to open its doors 3 years ago, but licenses and complications significantly delayed things, while also maxing the budget to an impressive $4 million.
The restaurant can seat over 100 guests in its inside and outside space, but most would love to be in the spotlight: literally on the water. Whether you’re sipping on fresh oysters, experimenting with their sushi rolls, or going for classic breakfast egg dishes, the views will make your outing unforgettable. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but has already gained a reputation for its upscale brunch dishes.
However, Shorebird won’t be the only new kid in town. Several new restaurants have moved in the area since San Diego took over managing Seaport Village, and we expect more to come.
