With March comes spring, and what better way of celebrating this beautiful season than by taking advantage of all our city has to offer. Though the season doesn’t officially change until March 20, the city is already in full bloom! There are so many wonderful things happening this month, such as the Carlsbad fields blooming, International Women’s Month, St. Patrick’s Day, and more. 1. Be dazzled at a candlelit concert
These enchanting candlelight concerts are taking place all around the world, so don’t miss out on a chance to see classic and contemporary culture come to life. For the month of March, you can enjoy the incredible Japanese composer, Joe Hisashi, classical renditions of Adele or Pink Flloyd, 90’s unplugged, Taylor Swift, and more. 2. Visit the Carlsbad Flower Fields
These gorgeous flower fields in Carlsbad open the first day of March and for the entire month, you can book a time to frolic among one of the best preserved flower fields in California. A sea of pink, gold, yellow, and orange flowers are planted every year to give San Diegans access to the beauty of mother mature. This is one of the best spots to see spring blooms in March, so don’t miss out on reserving a spot.

3. San Diegans Ride For Free
San Diego County residents can take advantage of free tours and attractions from with the Hometown Pass. You can also receive free rides if you are accompanied by a full fare adult paid, which makes it a great way to show friends and visitors around, while you enjoy the local fare – none!
4. Taste your way through Seaworld’s Seven Seas Craft Beer & Food Festival
From March 7 until April 27, 2025, foodies and beer lovers can celebrate at SeaWorld’s Seven Seas Craft Beer & Food Festival. The event will feature local craft beer from San Diego’s best breweries and delicious food from around the globe!

6. Dance at this electronic music festival
CRSSD Fest returns to San Diego on March 1 and 2, 2025, at the Waterfront Park. With 3 stages and over 30 artists, you can dance well into the evening, hang out at the food and drink vendors, and discover some great electronic music. There’s an after-party with a great line-up, too!
7. Enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day pint
St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, so get ready to celebrate San Diego style! One of the best Irish pubs in the city is The Field, in the historic Gaslamp District. Grab a beautiful pint of Guinness, and wear your favorite green outfit. In the same area, you’ll find many other great pubs, so if you’re rather into bar hopping…this is a great neighborhood to head to!
8. Engage in the arts during San Diego Theatre Month
March is a great month to be a theatre aficionado in San Diego! In 2024, it took place between March 1-31, and it brought an exciting program by the San Diego Performing Arts League. The aim of the program is to highlight the importance of San Diego’s diverse performing arts community, with musicals, comedy shows, and theatre, all covering different subjects, in three different price tiers. 9. San Diego Latino Film Festival
Mark your calendars, cinephiles! From March 19-23, San Diego’s 32nd Latino Film Festival is back for another year celebrating the diversity within the Latin diaspora through their filmmaking! The festival will feature many unique movies from documentaries to dramas in different formats along with interesting Q&A sessions with the filmmakers.
10.Drink sake at SD’s Cherry Blossom Festival
The Cherry Blossom Festival is almost here! Between March 13-16, 2025, this dreamlike festival will celebrate Japanese culture and beauty through its 20th edition. Wander around the Japanese Friendship Garden, taking in the spring’s gorgeous display of cherry blossom trees while enjoying their beer and sake garden, great food vendors, live musical performances all day long, and a unique cosplay contest you can participate in.
11. Go green at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival
San Diego’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest parade west of the Mississippi! There will be many attractions to enjoy on March 15, such as the mesmerizing floats, the talented high school marching bands, festive street performers, antique cars, and more! Head over to Balboa Park from 9am – 6pm for $10, with the parade kicking off at 10:30am on Fifth Avenue at Laurel Street.
12. ShamROCK
Don’t miss this amazing blockparty that celebrates St. Patrick’s Day! ShamROCK festival takes over the district of Gaslamp Quarter, with a full lineup of Irish and Celtic Rock bands, Irish dancers, and beer galore. The party is Saturday, March 15 – see you there!
13. Head to the beach
Did you know that 2 San Diegan beaches were just named best of U.S.?! We’re not surprised! March is a great moth to head to La Jolla, named in this top, to watch the wildlife and snap some amazing pics. The sea lions and seals are just too cute! The second spot named in this top is no other than the Coronado beach, right next to the iconic hotel. It’s a quick getaway and a great spot for a picnic, or to watch the sunset.
14. Enjoy some of San Diego’s best seafood
Spring means it’s time to get out there and spend more time on terraces, by the water, and in nature. Personally, we love getting out there – and we love it even more when oysters or fish tacos are in front of us, maybe with a glass of sparkling wine. 15. Don’t miss San Diego FC home opener
Start the month right with this absolute first: San Diego’s newest professional sports team, San Diego Football Club, is ready for its inaugural Major League Soccer season. SDFC will bring the action to Snapdragon Stadium, so if you’re into soccer – or looking for a new hobby – don’t miss it this 1st of March in San Diego.
16. Participate in this hot chocolate run
A good run is great for your mental and physical health…but let’s be honest, chocolate makes everything better – hence why this is an event not to miss! Sign up for the 5K or 15K race, give it your best shot, and enjoy an amazing cup of hot chocolate at the finish line – it comes with yummies to dip, too! And even better, there’s also an after party. 17. Cheer on at Padres Opening Day
To sports lovers, this is one of the greatest days of the year: it’s Padres Opening Day, on March 27, 2025, when the Padres will host the Atlanta Braves.
Then on Friday, join Party in the Park at Gallagher Square -here, you can enjoy $5 drinks, live entertainment, loads of fun, and the chance to get an Opening Series Hat, as long as you’re there early.
On Sunday, KidsFest takes place at Gallangher Square, where your little ones can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, and all sorts of exciting other activities. Kids over 14 can participate in the Kids Run, too!
18. Find the quirkiest thing at the Oddities Flea Market
Flea market fans, we have a first – this event debuts this March in San Diego! You can expect to find real gems through a curated selection of medical history ephemera, anatomical curiosities, natural history items, taxidermy…but also, home decor, jewelry, unique art, and more.
