Generations have grown up with films that became cultural landmarks, but few cinematic gems have left a mark quite like Harry Potter™. This fall, the wizarding world™ is coming to life above San Diego as the Del Mar Fairgrounds transforms into the setting for a massive aerial spectacle celebrating the beloved saga.
DroneArt Show: Harry Potter™ will take over the fairgrounds for two nights only, bringing thousands of illuminated drones, live music, and iconic moments from the Harry Potter™ films to the night sky.

The open-air experience will take place on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17, with both shows kicking off at 7 p.m. and lasting about 60 minutes, including an intermission.
The main attraction will be a fleet of 1,200 synchronized drones lighting up the sky with characters and memorable scenes inspired by the Harry Potter™ films. Rather than watching the action on a screen, guests will see the imagery unfold overhead in a giant open-air display!

The soundtrack will also be part of the spectacle, as a live electric violinist will perform alongside the aerial formations, bringing recognizable music from the films into the experience. Guests will also receive exclusive LED wristbands that add another layer of light to the show.
Attendees can arrive early for food and drinks, with Butterbeer™, and browse Harry Potter™-themed merchandise including wands, scarves and collectibles.
A historic San Diego venue gets a magical makeover
The DroneArt Show is landing at a venue with plenty of history of its own. The Del Mar Fairgrounds was established on its current site in 1936, when the 22nd District Agricultural Association purchased the property at the mouth of the San Dieguito River to host the annual county fair. More than 50,000 people attended that first 10-day event.
Today, the 212-acre campus hosts everything from concerts and exhibitions to the San Diego County Fair, which the fairgrounds calls San Diego County’s biggest and longest-running event.
