If you live in North County, your weeknight dinners are about to get a massive upgrade. A highly anticipated, chef-driven pasta destination is finally opening its doors in Encinitas this spring – and it’s bringing a brilliant new concept to the San Diego food scene.
Pastaria Vivi – from Michelin roots to casual dining

Pastaria Vivi is the brainchild of Brandon Jennings and William Treff – 2 chefs whose resumes boast stints at Michelin-recognized Mille Fleurs and San Francisco’s Lazy Bear. But instead of opening an expensive, fine-dining room, the duo is launching a casual neighborhood pasta shop inside the Encinitas Village Shopping Center.
The space is designed to be a hybrid Italian market and low-key dining spot. You can pull up a seat at the communal table or the dedicated pasta bar to watch the chefs hand-roll and shape fresh noodles right in front of you. Expect small-batch cuts like tortellini, tagliatelle, and pappardelle paired with slow-simmered Bolognese and seasonal ragù.
A pasta subscription? Yes, please!
But what’s really special about this spot is their take-home program. The chefs are launching San Diego’s first-ever monthly fresh pasta subscription box. Through it, you get a curated monthly haul featuring small-batch fresh pastas, housemade sauces, focaccia, and artisan cheeses to cook at home.
Whether you want to dine on the outdoor patio with a bowl of heirloom tomatoes, or you just want to make weekly dinners easier with the brand-new subscription, Pastaria Vivi is about to become your new staple. The shop officially opens this spring, so keep an eye out for this fun concept!
