Ever done that classic San Diego move where you casually cross the border for the best tacos of your life? If so, then you’re probably already familiar with the famous Tijuanazo and their iconic adobada tacos. Here’s the good news – from now on, you’ll only have to walk or drive to Little Italy for a taste of heaven.
Tijuanazo, one of Tijuana’s most revered taquerias

Established back in 2008, the beloved eatery earned legendary status for its carne asada and perfectly seasoned adobada. Initially, it was called TacoNazo, but the brand rebranded in recent years after a legal dispute with a similarly named chain.
Now, San Diegans no longer need their passports to experience these culinary masterpieces, thanks to the recent debut of Tijuanazo right in the heart of Little Italy (2102 India Street).
And if you’re thinking “that’s a familiar name – are they new in San Diego?”, the answer is no. You could previously find them in Hillcrest, but that location has closed, because unfortunately it wasn’t getting enough attention.
Tijuana-style tacos in the heart of Little Italy
This new arrival fills a much-needed street-taco void in the area’s dining scene. If you look at recent social media coverage, it seems the local community completely agrees. And the hype isn’t just online – the space is already buzzing, drawing packed crowds even during the typically quiet time between lunch and dinner.
What’s on the menu at Tijuanazo?

The menu serves as a homage to authentic Mexican street food. Foodies can indulge in classic like tender asada, savory suadero, and rich birria – all served up in a variety of formats including traditional tacos, crispy vampiros, cheesy mulitas, and yummy quesatacos.
Know before you go!
As highlighted by Tania Marks on her IG profile, there’s something you need to know before you rush over to get your fix. If you’re specifically craving their famous, spit-roasted adobada – which many argue is the absolute star of the menu – you must time your trip carefully. The kitchen only fires up the adobada after 5 PM on Fridays and keeps it going throughout the entire weekend. Happy eating!
