If you think art museums are mostly quiet, formal spaces, full of art critics…get ready for a vibrant change of pace. Musical icons Alicia Keys and Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean are bringing their world-class art collection to the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) this spring. This is an unforgettable experience, designed for absolutely everyone.
‘Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys’ arrives in San Diego

Making its exclusive West Coast debut from April 18 through August 9, 2026, ‘Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys‘ is a powerhouse exhibition. It features over 130 stunning works by nearly 40 Black diasporic artists from the United States, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.
The title Giants has a dual meaning. It honors the legendary artists whose works are on display, including historical icons like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Gordon Parks, alongside contemporary stars like Amy Sherald and Kehinde Wiley. It also refers to the larger-than-life scale of many pieces in the show. But at its core, the collection is a colorful celebration of Black joy, resilience, and cultural identity.
A special collection
What makes this exhibit so unique is the couple’s collecting philosophy: “by the artist, for the artist, with the people.” Keys and Swizz Beatz aren’t just art buyers, but storytellers and community builders. They want visitors to walk away feeling empowered. They say the goal is for you to “see that you are also a giant, that you are special, incredible, unique.”
To complete the immersive vibe, Swizz Beatz has even curated a custom musical playlist specifically for the San Diego stop. Whether you’re a lifelong art lover or stepping into MCASD for the very first time, Giants promises a cool, welcoming journey. Come discover your inner giant!
